Brevent project 015 – Update #4

,

Frequent readers of our blog may be familiar with our continuing project in Brevent; a total renovation of a property including a large new extension.

Despite the current restrictions and turmoil caused by the COVID 19 pandemic we have been working tirelessly with our Client to try to mitigate delays.

One way we have been able to assist is by re-scheduling the planning to maintain momentum. Whilst the speed of delivery has inevitably been affected we have been able to mitigate this to some degree by re-sequencing works to minimise the volume of trades required on site at any one time thereby allowing us to respect the stringent social distancing measures currently in place.

As planned, the construction of the extension was completed on schedule during the Autumn of 2019, along with installation of a new roof and windows, making the building watertight.

During the winter months, internal wiring, plumbing, partitions and ceilings were completed, setting the stage for work on the internal finishes to commence.

With the wiring and plumbing in place, works are now underway to install the boiler, bathrooms and wellness facilities (sauna and hammam), each a major upgrade over the originals, to ensure they meet the demands of a modern luxury home of this standing.

The chalet will also benefit from a beautiful feature fireplace for those cosy evenings around the fire after long days on the pistes.

With the partitions now in place there is more of a perspective on the internal layout which draws attention to the wonderful floor to ceiling windows and stunning views over the natural landscape surrounding the property.

Currently our joinery team are progressing with installation of the timber wall paneling, ceilings and parquet floors, which already look absolutely stunning.

Even at this stage of the build, the warm natural grain adds plenty of character to the interior.

In the coming months we are expecting to complete the remaining bathroom tiling and the interior painting, which will leave the property virtually complete before we turn our attention to the external landscaping, decks and spa to complete this complex project.
