Brevent project 015 – Update #3

,

After a busy and exciting summer, a no-less-exciting Autumn now begins for the team here at Pangea.

Previous visitors to our blog will be familiar with the total renovation of a large chalet in Brevent, which our team has been working on during 2019. Having overcome some access challenges in the early days of the project, work on the extension has been able to progress at pace.

The structure of the extension is now complete, with both walls and rooms in place, bringing home the true scale of the building’s expansion.

Work also continues to move forward on the renovation of the existing structure. In order to bring the build quality of the chalet up to modern standards the stone roof from the original chalet needed to be entirely removed. With the stone off, the entire roof structure was replaced, along with new weather proofing and insulation. Working with only the best contractors in the region, the quality of the workmanship here is second to none. The new roof will have no problem handling the extremes of weather seen in the Chamonix valley for decades to come.

With the structure of the building now all in place, metal double glazed windows and doors have been installed throughout the property and internally contractors are making good progress installing the internal wiring, which will ultimately be concealed in the floors, walls and ceilings (also now going into place) bringing much of the image of the final property into focus.

All in all we are extremely pleased to see this project taking shape. The excellent progress being made under our watch is of course great news for our client, who is often not able to be in Chamonix in person due to commitments elsewhere.
